Continuous mandibular nerve block as sole analgesia for postoperative pain management after a hemimandibulectomy in a French Bulldog

چکیده
A 12-year-old French bulldog presented for a mandibulectomy due to large ameloblastoma in the left rostral mandibular body. Preoperative pain management consisted of methadone 0.2 mg/kg and nerve block with ropivacaine 0.5%. Intraoperatively, an indwelling perineural catheter was placed through canal, tip foramen postoperative administration. Ropivacaine 0.2% administered every 6 hours first 36 without need any systemic analgesic administration, providing adequate analgesia allowing rapid recovery. The dog completely alert responsive immediate period started eating 12 after surgery sign or discomfort. No complications were observed during period. removed 40 metamizole 8 discharged 48 surgery.

postoperative pain control for total knee arthroplasty: continuous femoral nerve block versus intravenous patient controlled analgesia
conclusions our study shows that there is improvement in pain scores, at rest and on movement, as well as a reduction in incidence of severe pain, in patients who receive cfnb versus those who receive intravenous pca. results our results show that the incidence of a severe pain episode was higher in the pca compared with the cfnb group. lower pain scores were observed in the cfnb group compared...
متن کاملMultimodal Pain Management Protocol Versus Patient Controlled Narcotic Analgesia for Postoperative Pain Control after Shoulder Arthroplasty
Background: Our institution’s traditional pain management strategy after shoulder arthroplasty has involved the utilization of postoperative patient-controlled narcotic analgesia. More recently, we have implemented a protocol (TLC) that utilizes a multimodal approach. The purpose of this study was to determine whether this change has improved pain control and decreased narcotic utilization. ...
متن کاملPostoperative Pain Control for Total Knee Arthroplasty: Continuous Femoral Nerve Block Versus Intravenous Patient Controlled Analgesia
BACKGROUND Pain after total knee arthroplasty is severe and impacts functional recovery. OBJECTIVES We performed a retrospective study, comparing conventional patient control analgesia (PCA) modalities versus continuous femoral nerve blockade (CFNB) for 1582 post-TKA (total knee arthroplasty) patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS Using our electronic acute pain service (APS) database, we reviewed ...
متن کاملNerve injury caused by mandibular block analgesia.
Fifty-four injection injuries in 52 patients were caused by mandibular block analgesia affecting the lingual nerve (n=42) and/or the inferior alveolar nerve (n=12). All patients were examined with a standardized test of neurosensory functions. The perception of the following stimuli was assessed: feather light touch, pinprick, sharp/dull discrimination, warm, cold, point location, brush stroke ...
متن کاملPatient controlled analgesia versus conventional analgesia for postoperative pain
Purpose: Patients may control postoperative pain by self-administration of intravenous opioids using devices designed for this purpose (patient controlled analgesia or PCA). This study set out to determine whether any of the two opioid administrations (i.e. PCA or conventional analgesia) would provide superior pain relief among patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy or not. ...
